We are seeking an experienced AS400 Modern RPG professional with strong expertise in RxClaim systems to lead and support enterprise-level application development and maintenance. The role involves hands-on development, system design, modernization initiatives, and technical leadership within AS400 environments.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and contribute to design, development, enhancement, and support of AS400 applications using Modern RPG (RPGLE / Free Format RPG) .
Provide technical leadership for RxClaim-based applications , including claims processing, eligibility, pricing, and adjudication modules.
Perform analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment, and production support following SDLC best practices.
Modernize legacy RPG programs to Modern RPG / Free Format RPG standards.
Develop and maintain applications using CL, COBOL (if applicable), and DB2/400 .
Work extensively with Synon / CA 2E for application development and maintenance.
Perform performance tuning, debugging, and optimization of AS400 programs.
Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Provide code reviews, mentoring, and technical guidance to junior developers.
Support production issues and ensure timely resolution with minimal business impact.
Required Skills
8+ years of experience in AS400 / IBM i development
Strong expertise in Modern RPG (RPGLE / Free RPG)
Hands-on experience with RxClaim systems (mandatory)
Strong knowledge of DB2/400 , SQL, and query optimization
Experience with Synon / CA 2E
Proficiency in CL programming
Experience with full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
Good to Have
Experience in AS400 modernization initiatives
Exposure to web services or integrations with AS400
Knowledge of Healthcare / PBM domain
Experience working in Agile environments
Leadership or mentoring experience
